say it again saturday“Say It Again” Saturday was created because…Sometimes when I’m reading a book there are lines that just jump out at me. They make me was to laugh, cry, or just sit and think for a minute. Sometimes the lines are just beautifully written. They are the kind of lines that you want to stop reading, find someone close by, and read the line or passage aloud to them so they can share it with you.

This week I’m reaching way back in my memory. This book is one of my all time favorite science fiction books. I also like it because it is so different from the other books the author has written. This week’s selection is:

I go down the hall to the stairs, and I stop. I’m scared of the stairs. Normally, I have good eye-hand coordination. I don’t dork out, don’t drop my tray in the cafeteria, trip on the stairs, nothing like that. But there’s a problem this morning: no hands, no arms, no legs, no feet. I feel them, but I can’t see them. I hang on to the banister and feel my way down like a three-year-old. (p. 2)

“Tell me the big secret. Tell me how come you’re not some shirtless creep.” She’s gripping her white cane with both hands, ready to use it like a samurai sword.
