“Say It Again” Saturday was created because…Sometimes when I’m reading a book there are lines that just jump out at me. They make me want to laugh, cry, or just sit and think for a minute. Sometimes the lines are just beautifully written. They are the kind of lines that you want to stop reading, find someone close by, and read the line or passage aloud to them so they can share it with you.
Yes, I know it is Sunday, but my days are all messed up since it is summer and I’m home everyday. Plus, it was 4th of July and I did my freedom post. Anyway, better late than never.
I’m choosing BALLAD by Maggie Stiefvater this week. I’m only a few pages into it since I’ve been writing more than reading lately, but I’ve already found some wonderfully creative sentences. Here are just a few:
I would’ve doubted that it was him, despite his short-cropped auburn hair and his cocky bastard walk, but the fierce splash of yellow – my favorite color, for the record – that glowed inside him screamed music music music. (p.34)
I sulked until the sun blazed red just above the trees and the students returned to the dorms in knots of two, threes, and fours. (p.34)
I could get closer then, close enough that the glow of him reflected on my twilight skin and made me want to touch him and pull bright strings of music out of his head. (p.35)
